Jane Burgermeister threatened to jump from Greek hotel balcony with noose around her neck

It was reported in Greek Formedia that an Irish journalist was standing on the hotel balcony rail and threatening to jump off. She had a rope around her neck which was tied to the rooms bed.

She eventually was talked down and transferred to the psychiatric unit of the University Hospital presumably in Larissa.

I believe this hotel is where Jane Burgermeister had been staying for some weeks. This report is from two weeks ago, the day after Jane’s last post was sent.

Obviously this is shocking and the first thing to do is establish contact with Jane and check she is ok. Bearing in mind all the previous circumstances that led to this situation, then the more people that are aware of where Jane is, and the more the authorities are aware that many people know, then the safer Jane probably is.

I am trying to contact her and if others could follow this up as well and try to find out how Jane is and leave her messages of support, then I think Jane would appreciate that. I am presuming this is where she is.

A dramatic event unfolded at noon in the center of Larissa.

Specifically, a 66-year-old woman threatened to fall from the 4th floor of the Grand Hotel in Post Office Square, climbing onto the balcony railings with a rope tied around her neck from the room's bed.

Two Fire Department vehicles rushed to the scene and installed a safety net, as well as a negotiator from the Larissa Police.

According to information from formedia.gr, the woman is an Irish journalist and has been staying at the hotel for the last few months.

Finally, after negotiations, she went down alone and her adventure ended, with the 66-year-old being transferred to the psychiatric clinic of the Larissa University Hospital.

Ένα δραματικό συμβάν εκτυλίχθηκε το μεσημέρι στο κέντρο της Λάρισας.

Συγκεκριμένα, 66χρονη απείλησε να πέσει από τον 4ο όροφο του ξενοδοχείου Grand Hotel στην πλατεία Ταχυδρομείου, ανεβαίνοντας στα κάγκελα του μπαλκονιού έχοντας μάλιστα στον λαιμό της ένα σχοινί δεμένο από το κρεβάτι του δωματίου.

Στο σημείο έσπευσαν δύο οχήματα της Πυροσβεστικής και τοποθέτησαν δίχτυ ασφαλείας, καθώς επίσης και διαπραγματευτής από την Αστυνομία Λάρισας.

Σύμφωνα με πληροφορίες του formedia.gr η γυναίκα είναι Ιρλανδή δημοσιογράφος και διαμένει στο ξενοδοχείο τους τελευταίους μήνες.

Τελικά έπειτα από διαπραγματεύσεις, κατέβηκε μόνη της και δόθηκε τέλος στην περιπέτειά της, με την 66χρονη να μεταφέρεται στην ψυχιατρική κλινική του Πανεπιστημιακού Νοσοκομείου Λάρισας.
